Defensive Countermeasures Institute was established in 2007 as a privately owned security consulting business based in West Michigan. Our core mission remains unchanged—Develop and deliver innovative, practical security strategies that respond to the needs of our clients.

Our vision is to advance two primary goals:

• Offer knowledge-based instruction and curriculum that focuses on a proactive approach to reduce and counter threats to personal safety and security. Using only proven methodologies, we will increase the confidence of our clients and their employees to securely navigate across venues in today’s global business environment.

• Serve as an online resource to colleges and universities, healthcare professionals, and working families—especially those with infant children who wish to increase their security awareness and knowledge of personal safety practices encompassing a variety of social settings

Meet the President/CEO

Kent R. Jones is President and CEO of Defensive Countermeasures Institute, LLC. His personal security expertise is derived from over 35 years combined military and federal government service spanning five continents. He is a veteran of US Special Operations and continues his relationship with the community as an independent consultant. His strategies for countering personal security threats are taught to an increasing number of undergraduate students, college and university faculty, business travelers and federal government employees.

For his military service, Kent was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Kent is a graduate of the Regional Security Officer Course administered by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, US Department of State in Washington, D.C., and is a sworn member of the Barry County, Michigan Sheriff Auxiliary.
